Carder Steuben Candlestick - 2956

Abraham Lincoln

Posting Number 3062   Date: 10/18/18     Return to Posting List

This Steuben Division Portrait, from the collection of the Corning Museum of Glass, gifted by the Corning Glass Works, is not identified, but is strikingly similar to other Abraham Lincoln plaques and death mask of Abraham Lincoln created by F. Carder. Carder produced many Lincoln materials and apparently inspired the Lincoln bust on Mt. Rushmore. See below from Gardner, p. 52 The Glass of Frederick Carder.
