During the last several months we've featured Carder plaques and some sculptures from the collection of the Corning Museum of Glass. Almost all of those pictured are in storage and, in general, most haven't been on display and haven't been seen by the public. A few have been for sale as production pieces by Steuben Glass Works and are shown in the line drawings found in the Paul Gardner text. In all, they represent the extraordinary sculpture skills of Frederick Carder. Today, we may be showing the last of this virtual exhibit.
Bookend. Colorless lead glass; cast. Female figure with upraised hands holding remnants of a scarf; satin finish; marked in casting between feet: "FC"; signed "F. Carder 1938".
Collection of Corning Museum of Glass, gift of Frederick Carder
