Sad News To Report

Posting Number 3102   Date: 12/17/18     Return to Posting List

1.It is with deep sorrow that we share the news that member Janet Ziffer passed away late last week.

Janet joined the Club in late 2013 and attended all the Symposiums since then. She served as the Club's Membership Secretary for 4 years, and gave a presentation at the Symposium in 2017, showing pieces from her own collection.

Janet jumped in and assisted with the Club's auction - she developed a spreadsheet to keep track of the lots and prices realized. Janet was an enthusiastic collector and had a personality to match.

I am honored to have known her and called her my good friend for many years.

2.Janet was a high energy gal. It seemed she was always thinking about how to solve a problem or how to help. She jumped right into the club auction as well as other issues she brought her expertise to. I will miss her and I am sure everyone who knows will too.

3.Janet was a pillar of the IPBA. She formerly served on the Board as Treasurer, and she was on the current Board serving as Membership Secretary.

4.Sad news about my friend Janet Ziffer passing away. I am eternally grateful that I was able to spend some special time with Janet at this year's Symposium. The first night was a meet and greet for Charles Lotton and his family members at Kitty Erlachers shop. This year found me somewhat mobility challenged in that I needed to use a roller walker. I didnt wish to be in everyones way at the open house so I went to the shop a few hours earlier in the day. I left to find dinner before the crowd arrived - and welcomed the suggestion to have dinner with Janet. She was weak from the day's activities and still feeling the affects from her medical treatments. We met for a dinner and had a very meaningful couple hours of heartfelt conversation. It was special at the time and now on this sad day of Janets passing, it will be a very special memory to me for the rest of my days.
