Tyrian Signature Again|
Posting Number 2978 Date: 06/20/18 Return to Posting List
Several weeks ago Sam Kissee asked whether all Tyrian pieces were signed. I responded that it was likely that a Tyrian piece would be signed but the possibility existed of unsigned pieces. Dick Weerts provided a photo of an unsigned Tyrian vase. It turns out that this same subject was addressed in a 2006 Gazette. At that time Ed Bush provided a copy of a 1956 handwritten letter by Carder stating that "Most of them were signed Tyrian but some got by without it." A copy of the Gazette and Carder's letter can be found here.
